2002/2003 Report - Under 12/1
The boys had a fantastic season. It was great to be involved with a group of boys who loved their cricket so much. They would have played every day of the week if they could have. Their enthusiasm also showed at training where they put in 100% effort every week.
We finished the season in second place, having beaten the first and third placed teams twice during the season. Unfortunately we lost to lower placed teams in the one-day matches. The boys played well in their semi-final but were beaten by a better team on the day.
Many thanks to all the parents for their support throughout the season. A special thank-you to Brett McNaught. The McNaught family was new to the club this year and Brett gave us great support at training and with umpiring and scoring. Thanks also to Jenny Azzopardi and Shaun Johnson for scoring every week.
I look forward to another great season with a dedicated team of boys.
THE TEAM
Tyler Azzopardi: Tyler is a very reliable opener with excellent technique. He bowled well with limited opportunity. He is a very solid wicket-keeper and fielder and he always gives 100%. Under 12 Parramatta rep player.
Owen Butler: Owen was new to the club this season and showed great improvement over the season. He is an excellent runner between the wickets. He bowled well and is a great outfielder with a strong throwing arm. His batting continues to improve.
Andrew Casey: Andrew had a great season with the bat, often getting us off to a solid start as opener. His wicket-keeping was also of a high standard. He always plays with a great attitude and sportsmanship. Unfortunately he missed the latter part of the season when he started school at King's. Under 12 Parramatta rep player.
Ben Clift: Ben is a very reliable and accurate bowler. He is a great team player who always plays with good sportsmanship. He has a good batting technique which will develop as his confidence grows.
Luke Dempsey: Luke is a genuine all-rounder. He bowls with maturity beyond his years and has developed a deadly slow ball. He is a strong batter and brilliant fielder. Under 11 Parramatta rep captain.
Damien Johnson: Damien is a very good fast bowler, taking seven wickets in one match. He had no hesitation in opening the batting late in the season when needed and did a great job. He is a great fielder who always shows good sportsmanship. Under 12 Parramatta rep player.
Luke McNaught: Luke opened the bowling with blistering pace and 100% effort every week. He is a very enthusiastic fielder who took the most catches for the season. He sets himself high standards with the bat and will continue to improve next season. Under 12 Parramatta rep player.
Matthew Malouf: Matthew only played for half the season but in this time he showed improvement in his batting, bowling and fielding. He was always keen to try hard and follow instructions.
Evan Platt: Evan had a great year with the bat and ball. He is a very passionate cricketer who can be relied upon in a tight situation. Fielding showed a lot of improvement as his confidence developed.
Arron Singh: Arron is a fantastic spin bowler who took a superb hat-trick early in the season. He bowled such a good length that he had most batsmen in trouble. He had limited opportunities with the bat.
Azaan Vhora: Azaan is new to the club this season. He took some time to settle in but then bowled very consistently and batted with great enthusiasm. He is a fine fielder with sharp reflexes. He is a very supportive team member who shows good sportsmanship.
Andrew Wood: Andrew has an excellent batting technique which will be of great value to him in the future. He is good consistent bowler and wicket-keeper who should continue to improve as his confidence develops.
Ryan Pilkington: Ryan filled in for us in the latter part of the season when we were short. He did an excellent job taking two catches and showing great speed in the field. Thanks Ryan.
