The Under 13/2 team had a reasonably successful season. While we didn't make the semifinals the boys enjoyed a great team spirit. We had many new faces with only four of the previous year's team returning. Most of the new boys were playing their first year of competitive cricket and therefore it was a great learning experience. We won five of the twelve games played with a three game winning run from Round 3 to 5 and finishing with 2 wins. The five straight losses mid season made making the semis a challenge. There were some batting and bowling highlights that are mentioned in the individual comments. Our best team performances were in batting where we scored 222 from 35 overs against Kings Langley in Round 5 and bowling Wenty Leagues out for twelve in a one dayer in Round 4. While there were a number of individual highlights we also let ourselves down with poor discipline in all areas when we were in a winning position. Hopefully with this year's experience our consistency will improve. Thanks to those parents who assisted in scoring, umpiring and being at the ground to support the boys. THE TEAM Michael Brown: Michael joined the team mid season and proved to be a handy all round cricketer. He opened the batting on a few occasions and proved that he could handle the new ball when he applied himself. Dominic Conway: A left handed opening bat Dominic was the backbone of our batting for most of the season finishing second in aggregate runs. He also bowled accurate medium pacers and was able swing it around. Josh Davis: An opening bowler Josh proved to be our main strike bowler claiming 25 wickets. Also a good hitter when he got his eye in and a safe close infielder. Trent Houlihan: This was Trent's first year in competitive cricket. A strong hitter when he kept his head down, a good slip fielder with a few sharp catches and a strong arm in the outfield. Thevy Kurumoothy: Kept wicket all season and a very consistent performance. Batting continued to improve and he used his strengths with his regular glides past slip and point where he scored most of his runs. Great team player again this year. Blaine Page: Played the last few games and was very competitive in all areas. Always keen to learn and will continue to improve next year. Rohit Rangarajan: A good accurate bowler who slowed the run rate while wickets often fell at the other end. Batting and fielding improved during the season and took two great slips catches in the last game. Marc de Robillard: Joined the team mid season when we were short on players. In his first season Marc showed his competitive nature in bowling and fielding. A very good athlete and will benefit from his first taste of cricket. Ryan Saunderson: A very good all rounder. Ryan opened the batting on many occasions and got us of to a flying start. When he stayed in for a while we generally got a good total. Also a quick bowler and when on line generally took a few wickets. Haider Seghol: Opened the batting early in the season and held up one end while we built a score. Was missed while unavailable mid season. A handy wrist spinner who turns it a mile and was very hard to play when he got the line right. Taimor Seghol: A very talented cricketer who reads the game well. Always had plenty of time to play shots while batting. Made two scores over 50 and a 49 in the last game. Also a consistent bowler and fielder with safe hands. Bradley Sheedy: A very reliable and economical opening bowler who gave away less than two runs an over during the season. His batting improved with a top score of 56 on a day when we were in a lot of trouble. A very safe fielder and a great team player. Michael Waldron: Another player in his first season of competitive cricket. Batting improved during the season and Michael was involved in a number of good partnerships by holding up one end. Bowling also improved and good out fielding saved many runs. Thanks also to the following players who filled for a game during the season: Hagen Bender, Bradley Davis, James Davis, Nathan Dowson and Tim Hillier. Hope to see all the boys next season.
