We started the season short of players. However, with help from the Under 15/1's we were able to field a side to start the season with an outright win against Parra Leagues. After Round 2 was lost on forfeit due to insufficient players, the 15/1's came to the rescue with Keith Morrison and James Chatman joining the team as permanent players. In Round 5 lan Chatman joined the team and to everyone's surprise scored 23 not out in his first hit in a long time. When Marra changed jobs and had to work on Saturdays Michael Homsy took over the captain's role. With a team of unknown talent Homsy did a great job bringing the team together and developing the younger players. By Round 12 we were a chance to get into the top four for a final's place. Unfortunately, that was as close as we got. Some of the highlights of the season were Martin Daniel's knock of 75 runs and Ashley Critcher's 4/21 with the ball in Round 1. Michael Homsy showed his talent with the ball with 6/32 in Round 4 and 6/18 in Round 14. In Round 5 Nathan Blake 5/26 and Keith Morrison 5/35 ripped through Kings Langley in the first innings and Sean batted with patience, scoring 78 runs and ensuring first innings points. Keith took another 4 wickets in the second innings. In Round 12 against Kings Langley Graham Baker was on a mission, belting 102 runs which included 13 fours and 3 sixes to set up a first innings win. THE TEAM Graham Baker (Bargy): Although he only played 4 matches for us, Bargy still managed to score 128 runs (102 of them in one match), and take 9 wickets. Graeme is an aggressive batsman who has the ability to score runs rapidly. He is also a handy bowler and has the ability to bamboozle even the best of batsman with his variation. Bargy is a good slips fielder with a solid pair of hands and is one of the louder players on the field. Sean Beaney: Sean is a solid batsman who consistently scores runs. He frustrates the opposition with his ability to occupy the crease for long periods of time. Sean scored 260 runs at an average of 18.6 to take out the batting award. The highlight of the season for Sean was when he scored 78 in a gritty innings against King Langley. Nathan Blake: Nathan only played two games for us this year, but in both games he made a large contribution. Nathan bowls with extreme pace unsettling the best of batsman. In the two games he played, Nathan took 10 wickets. Nathan is also a handy batsman who has the capability to score runs. Ian Chatman: Ian is an aggressive batsman who likes to hit the ball hard. Although he prefers to hit the ball with power, Ian has a solid defence and can time the ball well. He scored 107 runs this year, was not out on 4 occasions and finished with the second best average of 21.4. Ian is a capable fielder with a safe pair of hands taking 6 catches. lan has had an excellent year, considering that the last time he played outdoor cricket was well over 15 years ago. James Chatman (Jimmy): James is a good all round cricketer. He is a capable batsman but struggled to find form this season. When he managed to make a start he didn't convert it to a large score. James had a pretty good season with the ball picking up eight wickets. James has the pace and once he adjusts his line and length he will be a dangerous bowler. James offered to wicket keep to allow Homsy to bowl and surprised everyone with his ability. James is an excellent fielder which was recognised by the team when he was voted the winner of the fielding award. He is athletic and fast with a strong and accurate throw. Ashley Critcher (Ash): Ash is talented all rounder. Ash is a handy bowler who consistently takes wickets. Ash is also handy with the bat scoring 33 valuable runs in one innings. Once Ash fine-tunes his shot selection he will become a very competent batsman. Ash is also an energetic fielder and has a good pair of hands. Martin Daniel (Marty): Marty has had a great year with the bat scoring 223 runs at an average of 18.58. Marty is an aggressive batsman who enjoys pounding the ball to the fence. Marty came perilously close to getting the batting award but missed out by 3 runs. Marty is also a useful slips fielder with a good pair of hands. Simon Daniel (Simmo): Simon is a handy all-round cricketer. He is a capable batsman who performs well when the team needs him most. Simon is also handy with the ball picking up some valuable wickets. He is an athletic fielder and has taken some brilliant catches this year. Tim De Ridder (Timmy): Tim is a keen cricketer who gives everything his best. Tim is an aggressive batsman who has the potential to score more runs once his footwork and shot selection improves. Tim is also a capable fielder with a strong arm. Braith Gallard: Braith has had another solid season with the bat this year. He is a good batsman with a strong defence. Braith is one of the senior players of the team whose experience and guidance has helped some of the younger players in the team to improve their game. Braith is a reliable fielder with a safe pair of hands. When thrown the ball Braith rises to the challenge and was rewarded with some valuable wickets. Matthew Hoken (Matty): Matt only played in a couple of games for us this year. In the games Matt played, he made a substantial contribution to the team. Matt filled in as wicket keeper on several occasions taking a couple of good catches. Matty is also capable with the bat and when an opportunity arises he makes the most of it. Michael Homsy (Homsy): Homsy is a great team player. He was skipper for the majority of the season and did a great job. Mick had an excellent season with the ball, getting better and better throughout the season and received the bowling award in recognition. Homsy is an aggressive batsman, who has the potential to make large scores. Homsy also kept wickets for a large part of the season, doing a great job and taking some unbelievable catches. Chris Jones: Chris filled in on several occasions and did a great job. Chris was wicket keeper a couple of times and on one occasion took 6 catches in one innings. Chris also contributed with the bat scoring 25 valuable runs in the same innings. Martin Marjoniemi (Marra): Marra was our chosen skipper for the first few games until he handed over the captaincy to Homsy due to work commitments. Marra is an aggressive batsman who has the ability to hit any bowler to the fence. He is also a handy medium pace bowler and opened the bowling on most occasions. Marra is a great fielder and on the odd occasion he goes wicky. Keith Morrison (Keith): Keith is a talented young cricketer. Keith is a good fast bowler who takes plenty of wickets. With a little more work on his run up and length Keith will take even more wickets. Keith's batting continued to improve over the season. He consistently scores runs and with an aggregate of 65 from 11 innings with 5 not outs at an average of 10.6 he has proven his capability to bat up the order. Keith is a good fielder with a strong arm. Clint Wilson (Clint): Clint has had a good first season for the club. He has improved throughout the season especially his batting. Clint's off spinners proved quite useful and often brought a settled batsman unstuck. By the end of the season Clint was becoming a handy all- rounder. Clint is a good fielder who specialises in the gully region.
