About Baulko

Baulkham Hills C Grade was an identical team to that of the previous season. Without doubt C Grade started the season with the same impetus that it finished with in early 2002. The team mindset was that we can only do better and that 2002/2003 was going to be our season. The first two matches were an absolute breeze, the lads went out blazing with pinpoint accuracy. The next two matches we let our guard down and were quickly disposed of by AKA and Guildford Leagues. From that point on C Grade regrouped and won ever game for the rest of the season. An outstanding effort to finish minor premiers - and most deservedly so. Unfortunately the semi final saw our downfall; with a disappointing defeat to Kings Langley. Despite the finals defeat I am sure all members of C Grade had an enjoyable and somewhat festive season. THE TEAM David Byrne (Byrnsey): Byrnsey was the stalwart of the team who could be relied upon when times got tough. Byrnsey bowled tirelessly throughout the season with excellent figures of 119 overs, 6 maidens and 37 wickets. David's mindful batting this season saw him develop into a consistent and respected all rounder. Michael Delfino (Moofin): When it comes to opening batsmen, Moof was always the obvious choice, despite being the youngest member of the team. Moof was never intimidated by any opening bowler, despite his lack of vertical stature. In the field, Moof's motivating voice could always be heard echoing across the meadows. Jay Smith: Our spirited opening bowler who has still not reached his full potential. Jay bore the brunt of the bowling this season and could always be relied upon to deliver his best, in difficult and sometimes oppressive conditions. John Procajlo (Johnno): Johnno was our on-field motivator, all round batsman and wicket keeper. John had a great season with both bat and gloves, with a batting average of 21.6 and a string of catches. When times were tough, John would strengthen the team with his agile tact and humour. Matthew Hardy (Hards): Matty had the safest hands in all of C Grade. Fielding at mid on, Matt would pensively wait for the inevitable missile headed his way. Everyone knew the batsman was out when the ball was within "cooee" of Matt's magnetic gloves. Jarred Farlow (Jar-red): Demi-God, ace, legend are words which don't adequately describe this talented young gentleman. Jarred had an outstanding year both with the bat and ball. Jarred scored the most runs this season with a total of 572. Jarred took the bowling honours with an average of 10.36 runs per wicket, narrowly beating Jay by 0.15. Josh Stafford: Joshy was C Grades permanent part-time player. Josh was always energetic, enthusiastic and ready for a big challenge. Josh's talent with the ball just gets better with time. Speed and accuracy are Josh's best traits. Watch out for this talented Grade player to be. Hilton Byrne (Hilti): If there was ever a man needing a knee replacement operation, then it was Hilti. Despite Hilti's mechanical disability he played every game as a grand final. Hilton had a great season with the bat, in the field and with the ball. Hilton has a great way with words and on occasion could be heard giving thoughtful advice to anyone that required it. Rod Farlow (Rocket Rodney): Rod once again had an outstanding cricket season. Either it's natural talent or Janet is putting something in Rod's breakfast. Rocket Rodney bruised the cover of many cricket balls with the top batting average of 47.1 runs. Rod doesn't understand the concept of blocking. Throughout the year Rod demoralised many self-proclaimed bowlers with his aggressive and intimidating style. Graeme Hardy (Gra Gra): Put Graeme anywhere in the field this year and he shone. Square Leg, Point or even Gully, eagle eyes Graeme would wait to pounce on his prey. Graeme had a tremendous year, highly motivated and always a desire to do well. Graeme does not suffer idiots easily as evidenced by some of his tactful communication on the field. Tony Delfino (Chrusher): Crush arrived on the scene this season armed with an exceptional piece of willow. We all surmised it fell off the back of a truck, even though Crusher tried to convince us otherwise. Crusher was obviously dudded as the willow played like weathered fence paling - much to Crusher's disappointment. Richard Smith (Ricko): Ricko enjoyed immensely the challenges of a cricket command. Despite not being able to get bat to ball, Ricko enthusiastically met the rigours in the field and sometimes enjoyed taking wickets with his mixed bag of bowling. Without doubt Ricko's job was made easy by the self-motivated and cooperative effort of all team members. Richard Smith Captain
