About Baulko

The BHCC this season had 16 Junior teams with 2 teams in each age group and 3 teams in the Under 16 and Under 10. Having 3 teams in the Under 10's each year shows what a success the Have-A-Go Cricket is in supplying young players to our Club. The success and longevity of any club depends on its juniors and with the strength coming through, the Club can only continue to grow and improve. Congratulations to all the teams that made the finals series, a great improvement on the 2001/02. Of the 10 teams eligible to play in the finals series we had 4 teams that competed in the Semi Finals and they were the Under 16/1(A), 13/1, 12/1 and the 11/1. Of these only 2 teams proceeded to the Finals and they were the Under 13/1 and the Under 11/1. It was a great thrill to have both teams win their respective finals and the club is very proud of their efforts. Both coaches, Jeff Warland (13/1) and Nigel Bertus (11/1) should be congratulated for the effort and time they put in to make these young cricketers the champions that they now are. I must also point out that the Under 11/1 went through the season undefeated.
The BHCC again supplied the District, City and State with budding cricketers and these were:
This is a very impressive list of cricketers and watch for their names in the future. Also achievements like these can only be reached with a high standard of coaching and also a high level of parent participation. As far as the coaching goes nearly all coaches at BHCC have at least a Level 1 Coaching Certificate, we are probably only one of the few clubs that can boast of this and we will strive in the future to make sure that this level of coaching is available in all ages and in all grades. Again this can only be achieved by the participation of willing parents. Not only are Coaching Courses available to all, but Umpires Courses are also available. Anybody wishing to do any of these courses please contact me.
Other areas which show why the BHCC is a successful club is by the attendance at other functions like the Double Wicket Competition and the Super 8's (during the Christmas Holidays). These 2 fun days are ever growing in popularity and the numbers just keep on increasing as other teams find out about them. These days are geared to give every player a fun day of cricket, no pressure and a chance to make friends with other age groups. Special thanks must go out to all the parents who participate on these days help making them as successful as they are.
The introduction of the club shirts has also helped the BHCC stand out among the others. Another thing that makes the BHCC stand out is that we have some of the best grounds in the PDCA. With all this going for us we have no reason not to produce some Premierships next season.
Yours in cricket
