Congratulations to the B1, B7, B10 and B11 teams for winning their respective premierships. To have four teams qualify for the finals and all four succeed is a truly wonderful effort. A special mention must go to Malcolm Currey and his B10 team for going through the whole season undefeated, outstanding. To the B3, B13, B14 and C grade teams congratulations for making the semi-finals. In total, 8 out of our 16 senior teams made it into the semi-finals with four eventually reaching and attaining the grand final prize. Well done to all teams on their efforts this season. To say that this was a difficult season as senior registrar would be an understatement. At the start of the season the Grading Committee had a set agenda to try and build the nucleus for a strong Baulkham Hills Cricket Club. But alas as with all good plans, last minute withdrawals after teams were submitted and players wanting to play down from their potential saw us struggle to field 16 full teams and supplement other teams with less experienced players. As an example, in one round I had to find 29 players to fill in for our regular players - not an easy feat - and one that was not achieved, resulting in four or five teams playing with less that 10 players. For a Club of our size this is totally unacceptable. Although acknowledging that cricket and the players themselves should be the ultimate winners, not supporting the Club can have a detrimental affect on the Club and subsequently the players. We need you, as senior players, to set an example and support the Club's mission to provide competitive teams in all grades that teams are submitted. To have, as another example, our top team struggling to find players to fill in for them and in the end have the senior registrar nominate himself as an available player, although never having played the game, is to say the least a sad indictment of the level of commitment by some of the club's senior players. As mentioned earlier, this may have a flow on effect to next season's team compositions, number of teams and number of players assigned to each team. Our aim should be to allow players to play to their full potential and allow them to be released to higher grades as required, but not to the determent of their own side. Raffles and Melbourne Club Tickets - some teams did not support these money-raising ventures to their fullest potential. Some did not even bother to sell any of their tickets, yet demanded new balls and equipment to be delivered to them at a whim. To say that I am disappointed by some returns is an understatement. If you are not willing to assist in raising money, do not complain to us when we need to raise your fees to compensate for increased costs. I ask each and every senior player of the Club to honestly answer the following question: Did I support the Baulkham Hills Cricket Club to the best of my ability? If you did I thank and applaud you for your effort this season. If you didn't, what do you expect from your Club in return? On a positive note, I wish to thank all the team captains and managers who did support me throughout this turbulent season. You made my difficult task easier with your words of kindness and offers of support even though your own teams were down. I truly appreciate your support. I stand committed to next season with the positive outlook of providing competitively graded teams at all levels.
