2003/2004 Report - Under 10 White
The Under 10 White team had a fantastic season with all the boys giving their best all the time and more importantly enjoying playing together as a team. The team won 11 games and lost only one game and that was because we had only 7 players for that game. It is fair to say that our team was best in the competition.
Some of the highlights of the season include:
- Bowling - on an average the team gave away only 20 extras in a 36 overs match. An excellent bowling effort at this level. A special mention needed for Amol Marwah for his performance of 3-2-5-1 including double hat-trick and also Anoop Vaidya for his performance of 3-3-5-0.
- Batting - best match score for the team was 137 for 3 wickets. The minimum number of wickets lost in a match was 2 and the maximum was 10. It was great to watch Samuel Bennetts and Amol Marwah bat when they were at their best.
- Fielding - was excellent throughout the season with very few catches and run-out chances spared. During most of the games the team could restrict opponents to a total score in the range 30-50. In particular, Sanjay Fernando and Harrison Tucker did a fantastic job of wicket-keeping.
THE TEAM
Nevin Arora: A good all-rounder and very keen to score quick runs in particular, boundaries.
Amit Balakrishnan: Another good all-rounder and a great spin bowler. Very quick in the outfield that effected some of the run-outs.
Samuel Bennetts: A great all-rounder and showed good batting technique. Extremely quick in the field and showed accuracy with throwing at the stumps. Taken very good catches in the deep.
Sanjay Fernando: An excellent wicket-keeper and a handy pace bowler. Taken some sharp catches behind the wicket.
Jonathan Fulcher: A very good slip fielder - taken some sharp catches. A much improved bowler at the end of the season.
Amol Marwah: Another great all-rounder. A good team player, putting team success ahead of his individual achievements. Showed great accuracy with the fast-medium swing bowling.
Ravi Marwah: By far the youngest player in the team, very enthusiastic with lots of energy and amazingly quick in the outfield. A good and accurate fast bowler for his age.
James Senior: The most improved player during the season - very keen to learn. Played every game throughout the season - only one other player achieved this.
Joshua Stevenson: An excellent fast bowler. Taken the maximum number of wickets during the season and showed improvement with every game.
Harrison Tucker: Another good wicket-keeper and a quiet achiever. Improved his bowling with every game.
Anoop Vaidya: A fine all round performance. Showed a good defensive batting technique, strong through the onside. Taken sharp catches at close-in fielding positions. Played every game throughout the season.
Joshua Wheway: A good team player. Improved his bowling towards the end of the season with a lot of encouragement and support by the coach and other players.
The team would like to thank Gary Wheway for his tireless coaching during training sessions throughout the season as well as during the games and Prashant Vaidya for managing the team and scoring. Also, thanks go to parents for helping at the games and at the training.
