After the success of last year we were keen to make it back to back premierships. This year we were able to field a full squad of 12 players, the eleven from last year plus Kevin Hesse. We tried a new approach this year, allocating a minimum number of overs and innings to each player for the season. This was a success as the over all development of the side was outstanding. At the end of the season we finished minor premiers with 9 wins and 3 loses.
SEMI-FINAL
FINAL
THE TEAM Ryan Buckland: Ryan continued to improve his cricket this year particularly his batting where he increased his aggregate runs by 400% and his average runs by 300% on last year. He again bowled outstanding off spin and continued his top work in the fielding department. He is now ready to take the step to the next level. Ashleigh Endacott: Ashleigh captained the team to its 2nd premiership in a row. She had a brilliant year with the ball taking 15 wickets (2nd in team) at 9.13 (1st in team) and had an economy rate of 2.3. She batted well throughout the year particularly in tight situations and was an outstanding fielder in all positions. A member of the NSW U/15 girls state side who won the Australian Championship. James Frank: James had another great year with the bat making 319 runs (1st in team) at an average of 29 (2nd in team) and topped it of with a great 66 in the semi-final. He had another good year with the gloves taking 9 catches and effecting 4 stumpings. He captured 2 wickets from 12 overs with his medium pace bowling. A member of the Parramatta U/14 rep team. Tom Gurka: Equally outstanding with bat or ball but his appearances were limited by injury and sickness. He took 10 wickets at 11.9 and played many outstanding innings with the bat most notably in the final when he top scored in a tight first innings with 18. As one of the association's top fielders he again showed his class both in close or in the outfield. He was vice-captain of our team, captain of the Parramatta U/13 rep team and selected to try out for the NSW U/14 Emerging Blues Team. Kevin Hesse: Kevin was having his first year with the team and his great all round abilities proved to be an asset to the side. He made 203 runs at an average of 22.56 (3rd in team) and captured 12 wickets at 11.08. This included a brilliant hat-trick 3/2 verses Wenty Leagues. His semi-final figures of 10 overs 2/5 were outstanding. A fine fieldsman in all positions he would have attracted the eye of many an AFL with his brilliant handball to Tim while fielding at first slip during the final. Tanveer Josan: Tanveer turned the corner this year. He played good cricket up until Christmas but a trip to his Guru in India during the Christmas break saw him come back an enlightened player and he went from strength to strength. This culminated in some great finals performances, 10 overs 4/6 and part of a 54 run opening partnership in the semi-final and 6 overs 2/12 in the final. An outstanding fieldsman in all positions on the field. Tim Littlejohns: Tim continued his advancement as an all rounder. His batting continued to mature and culminated in a match winning 25 not out under extreme provocation against Wenty Leagues. In his bowling he returned to his old form which saw a decrease of over 200% in his average of runs per wicket. His fielding lifted a notch this year and culminated in 2 great catches in this year's finals. Alex Mihalyka: Alex is on the verge of greatness. His batting started to show the grace and power he is capable of and culminated in a brilliant 28 not out to secure outright victory in the grand final. This year he became a front line bowler with a runs per wicket average of 9.83 (2nd in team) and an economy rate of 1.6 (1st in team). An outstanding fieldsman who was a Parramatta U/13 rep player and was selected to try out for NSW Emerging Blues. Continued hard work will see Alex reach great heights next season. Luke Palmer: Luke bowled his leg spin with great accuracy this year to have an economy rate of 2.7 and be the best in this category amongst our spin bowlers. Some big wicket hauls are just around the corner. The runs scored this year increased by a massive 700% and his average by 220%, so with this new found confidence things will get even better next year. This confidence also showed in his fielding which continued to improve. Max Pobihuszka: Max was able to play only 6 games at full fitness this year but he still made 254 runs (2nd in team) at an average of 42.33 (1st in team). In the bowling department he took 10 wickets at 10.10 (3rd in team). He is a brilliant out fieldsman. Max was a Parramatta U/14 rep player, selected in the Parramatta Green Shield side and also selected to try out for the NSW U/14 Emerging Blues. I expect Max with a balanced workload next season to start to reach his true potential. Matt Scholz: Matt had another great year with bat and ball. His bowling in particular was of a consistent high standard all season and he finished with 16 wickets (1st in team) at an average of 13.5. The grand final figures of 9.2 overs 6/12 show how good he is. He also had another fine year with the bat making 155 runs at an average of 22.14. A good fieldsman and an outstanding team man he was also a Parramatta U/13 rep player. Tom Warland: A great team man who always gave 100% in all areas of the game. He bowled well throughout the season and he took some vital wickets. His batting was back to its solid best particularly in the later part of the season when he put in a match winning performance against Greystanes by figuring in an unconquered final wicket partnership of 29. A fine fieldsman, he finished the season of with a great catch in the final. Many thanks to all the parents who made the season such a great success and also helped to make the Trivia Night so successful. Thank to Robin for doing the scoring and Joe for managing and the statistics. To Joe, Chris, Doug, and Louie thanks for umpiring and to all the mums and dads who supplied coffee, buns and biscuits throughout the season. Finally to the team who through their dedication, work ethic and team spirit made this the most enjoyable season of coaching I have had in the past 30+ years. Yes I will be back next year.
