2003/2004 Report - B11 Grade
Finishing sixth in the competition wasn't exactly the intended pre-season plan, however, that's the way it goes some years. Team reduced to 10 full-timers before Round 1 with the unexpected loss of a key player to Churches cricket, and the elevation of another to fill a vacancy in A Grade. Injuries throughout the season saw us regularly drawing on our reserves and depending heavily on the U/16 side to make the 11.
Not enough runs, partnerships hard to come by, and sometimes a real struggle to take wickets.
I cannot understate my appreciation to Don Higginbotham for tirelessly working on our behalf to secure additional players. John Jerome and Troy Higginbotham - many thanks for your participation throughout the season - it's now your time for greater challenges much higher up the Grades - I know you will do well.
The list of reserves used was extensive - my thanks to all - you are more than welcome full-time if you have the urge next year!!
Highlights - Peter Touzel's sound batting throughout the year. Well done Peter for your first batting trophy with us. Tim Chesher's six wicket haul against the competition winners. A spell from Ian Scollay that routed the upper order of second placed team. Fine half centuries from Peter Burns and Mark Elliot.
