About Baulko

For B12, it was a season of two halves. We started the season off in great style with 6-238 against Norwest. Greg Leeson, in his first match for Baulkham Hills scored 112 not out. He combined in an unbroken seventh wicket partnership of 130 with Paul Morris who made 55 not out. This was Paul's first half century for Baulkham Hills. We continued to bat well until Christmas and lead B12 into the break. Our only loss was against Pendle Hill when we failed to defend 208. After Christmas we managed just two wins against the bottom two teams to finish in third spot. We lost our semi-final against Norwest 88 to 50. The team was similar to last year's B13 side. Greg Leeson, James Attard and Russell Howell were the new faces in the side. An enjoyable season was had by all and a special thank you to Adrian Cox for organising the end of season trip to Newcastle. THE TEAM Ian Renton: Captain. Narrowly missed a century against Pendle Hill, the eventual premiers, when he carried his bat for 92 not out. Took some excellent catches at first slip. Proved a surprise packet with the ball with 12 wickets at just under 12 with his off-spinners. Played every game. Ron Moye: Vice captain. Normally a wicket keeper but this season enjoyed a run in the field to take some spectacular catches and even took 7 wickets with his medium pacers. Made some valuable runs at number 7. Ian Cox: More often than not Ian saw off the new ball to set up some good scores for the middle order. Greg Leeson: The class batsman in B12 with 300 runs before Christmas but did not get amongst the runs after Christmas. Very safe behind the stumps. Finished with 17 dismissals. Dane Sparks: Bowled accurate inswingers to finish with 20 wickets at just under 15. Provided good support to Adam Fahey. Almost always was able to contain the opposition's big hitters. Don Crawford: Unlucky not to make his first century for the club with 96 against Guildford Leagues. Always scored his runs quickly. His speed proved a great asset in the field and when running between wickets. Paul Morris: Certainly the most improved player of the side. After batting most of last season at 10 or 11, he started the season with three half centuries but could not match these efforts after Christmas. Toiled well with the ball to take some vital wickets at various stages throughout the season. Brad Boyle: The second leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets at 15. Took 6 catches and certainly one of the better fielders in the side. Adam Fahey: Clearly, the most threatening bowler in B12. Worried all batsmen with his pace and bounce. Finished with 50 wickets at just over 10. Matthew Vecchiato: Season was interrupted by injury so he did not have the impact that he had last season. Still managed to hit some big sixes. Another with a safe pair of hands. Adrian Cox: Improved defensive technique meant that Adrian was able to stay around and form good partnerships in the latter order. Was only dismissed five times in ten innings. James Attard: Started the season with 33 runs and finished with 19 runs but had some low scores in between these innings. Bowled some useful left arm spin. Russell Howell: Defended well when required to hold up an end when established batsmen were well set at the other end. Took a spectacular one-handed catch against Wenty Leagues. Craig Sparks: Only played two games this season. Scored an impressive 39 against Hills Barbarians. Thanks to Sacha Fernandez for filling in against Guildford Leagues. Thanks also to Mitchell Sparks for acting as a substitute fielder when needed and to Neil Boyle for his regular support.
