About Baulko

Eleventh and final Secretary's Report for me. In some senses sad, but it is time for some turnover in the management of the club. New blood to bring new and updated ideas so that we can continue to advance as the premier club in the Parramatta District Cricket Association. Not that I will be going far, as the third longest continuous current player, I will definitely be picking up the bat for a twentieth season with Baulko! Although down a couple of teams this season, the club still can boast over 500 players and officials. The coordination of this big club can only work with the dedication of our loyal band on the Management Committee. For nine men to operate so well together makes the smooth function of this proud club seem a breeze. Believe me - it is not! With Neil advising his intention to stand down from the Presidency this season and another three club officials notifying their plans to follow suit in the near future, there is an opportunity for interested members to become involved in the running of their club. Join this team and you will find that a strong unit can spread the load, so that no single official should be overloaded. It has certainly worked to date! I also must mention another to be stepping aside due to work commitments. David Todhunter has run our canteen at Ted Horwood for a number of seasons (with support from his son Mark) and this effort is greatly appreciated. He has also done the pre-season inspections and reports on all our grounds before we take over from the winter users and kept up the marking of lines on the pitches throughout the season. All this despite not having either son playing with the club for the last 2 seasons! I must also thank the Captains, Vice Captains, Coaches and Managers, who put in a huge amount toward the smooth operations of Baulkham Hills Cricket Club Inc. There is not enough recognition of these team officials and I sometimes feel that many players and parents really do not understand how much time goes into these roles. It does not all just happen on Saturday! Unfortunately, I must again point out that a few continue to let down the standard. Some teams are consistently not represented at meetings, then want to know why they do not know what is going on in the Club! Then there is my annual end of season gripes, where some teams may miss out on inclusion in this report notwithstanding having up to three months to submit, while some have still yet to return their team kit! (If this paragraph seems familiar, check last year's report, nothing has changed - so it has been reproduced!) I will not go into details about the performances of our teams and representatives, that has been covered in other reports. I would rather again stress the importance of the off-field efforts. Not only by the team officials, but also by the senior players and juniors' parents. We need you to support our fund-raisers and the Sporting Club. Without your support of these, then our expenses have to be covered by increased fees. I just wish to finish this final report with a special thank you to two people - Neil Boyle and George Wasyluk. It has been my total honour to work at a Committee/Executive level at this great cricket club with these men for around 15 years now. It will seem really odd to not be spending 1-3 nights per month attending meetings at the Sporto with them, plus various club functions, association meetings, etc. It has been a real pleasure - thanks guys!
