About Baulko

This group of boys again displayed great team spirit and developed as a group though out the year. The wins were sparse but the guys were competitive in every game. On many occasions our fist innings with the bat did not go to plan, but we always fended off outright defeats with much determination. On every occasion our bowling was spot on and our fielding improved noticeably throughout the season. Probably the most pleasing aspects of the season were the team's camaraderie, the fact that a lot of the boys developed as leaders within the team, and the improvement shown in our 3 first year players. These factors will ensure we will be a much tougher competitive outfit next season. Thank you to all the parents who all got behind the team and provided terrific support for the boys during the season. It is a fantastic group of people both on and off the ground and a pleasure to be involved with. Toby Davis: (Captain) a very good all rounder and excellent choice as Captain as Toby leads from the front on the field. Toby had a good year with the bat to win the batting average and aggregate. With the ball he featured high up in the wicket tally but he needs to find a steady bowling rhythm and he will develop even further next season as an all rounder. Daniel Marlow: (Vice Captain) a very good leader of the team also, always prepared to encourage his bowlers from behind the stumps. Daniel continued to improve with his wicket keeping, and had another great season. The improvement in his batting technique was fantastic to see, and he always looked comfortable at the crease. Expecting big things from Daniel with both the gloves and the bat next season. Nealan Vettivelli: Nealan did not feature in the statistics as much this season as the year before and had a quite first half of the season with bat and ball. However after the Christmas break Nealan performed fantastically, and bowled some fine spells of spin bowling which deserved many more wickets. Nealan also developed enormous confidence in his batting as the season progressed and had some fine innings. Stanley Veldsman: Stanley matured a great deal this season and became one of the team leaders. His bowling was magnificent all season, which is highlighted by the fact that he topped both the bowling aggregate and averages. His batting technique is sound but he needs to focus on building an innings and he will develop into a fine all rounder Jarred Taylor: Jarred is a delight to coach and loves his cricket. He has great potential, as an explosive all rounder but needs to relax a bit when bowling. His batting developed a great deal during the season and he played some gritty innings when the team really needed him. A fabulous fielder nicknamed "buckets" for his catching ability. Daniel Collins: Daniel had a fabulous year with the ball and really took the next step from the raw fast bowling talent he displayed last year. His batting also blossomed and he showed the confidence to attack the bowling and displayed most of the shots. A naturally quiet achiever and needs to talk more on the field, but showing the signs of becoming a fine all round cricketer. Matthew Newson: Matthew also displayed strong leadership amongst the team, and gave 100% on the field. Although he tried hard all year the wickets just did not come his way in spite of many fine-bowling stints. With the bat Matthew really started to blossom as on opener towards the end of the season and is starting to realise the value of concentration in building an innings. A solid fielder all year Matthew become our regular first slipper and took some great catches. Exhibits much potential as an all rounder. Josh Morfoot: Josh had a great season with all disciplines of the game. He attacked opposition batting line-ups with much vigor when opening our bowling and then showed great concentration to hold many of our batting innings together. A fantastic catcher of the ball in the field, and a good leader. Josh has a bright future in the game and we wish him all the best with the Barker College team next season, as I am sure he will make his mark. Vrushank Bakshi: Vrushank is a naturally aggressive batsman, but unfortunately the runs proved hard to get for him this season, even though his technique improved a great deal. He is an extremely enthusiastic all round cricketer who had a good season with the ball often breaking through when needed. Also a good talker and leader in the field and is prepared to attack any challenge that presents itself. Matthew Farrand: Matthew had an excellent first season in the game, and really developed well with his bowling, batting and fielding. His batting was fantastic and he was prepared to attack the bowling and take the game to them. Needs to concentrate a bit more in the field, but all in all a fantastic first year. Jason Foskett: Jason also a first year player improved a great deal during the year. Jason developed a good pace action as the season unfolded and often-displayed gritty opening batting skills. Needs to work hard on his batting technique next season, but his enthusiasm for all aspects of the game will ensure his success next season. Shivang Sharma: Shivang improved enormously in his first year was well. He is quietly determined and plays the game with great heart. He often opened the batting and kept out the best pace bowlers in the competition with his steadfast defence. However he needs to develop shots and work hard on his technique next year. His bowling coordination improved a lot during the year and Shivang ended up high on the bowling aggregate list, which was a good achievement.
