2004/2005 Report - Under 14/1
It was an honour to be associated with this team. They always play cricket in a spirit, which they can be proud of. The boys always support each other and give their opponents the respect they deserve. They are certainly a credit to the club.
There were many highlights in the season. We had two-century makers, Tom in the first round and Alex in the last round. They were both magnificent innings. Our bowlers were all first class. In one game we bowled ten bowlers and the tenth bowler took 4 wickets. We certainly had the ability to bowl a side out inside the allocated overs. Our fieldsmen tried hard, with Owen and Adam always chasing the ball down in the outfield.
The boys had a magnificent season. They won their semi in very impressive fashion but unfortunately on grand final day they came up against a side that had one of those superlative days in the field. The boys gave their best but all the edges were going to fieldsmen and the reflex catches were sticking. The boys should be proud of their season. It took two sides to beat them (The Winston Hills team folded and all their best players went to the eventual premiers, Hills Barbarians)
As with all good sides the parents were a great. Their support throughout the season was first class. There was always someone to score, umpire or help in any way. Jill did a superb job as manager. Everything always happened with a minimum of fuss.

The Team
Adam Bailey: Adam was new to the team this year but he fitted in superbly. He always gave his best and was a very popular member of the team. His positive and jovial nature was certainly infectious and his cricket will continue to improve.
Owen Butler: Owen just gets better every year. He had the highest run aggregate in the team. His batting has "class" written all over it. His bowling started the season slowly because of injury but he finished the season in excellent form. Owen is a very accomplished cricketer.
Luke Dempsey: Luke is a very valuable member of our team. He has the ability to take wickets when the pressure is on as evidenced by his 5 wickets in the semi. His catching and general fielding is a pleasure to watch. Under 13 Parramatta rep captain.
Tom Gurka: Tom is another of our outstanding players. As the stats show he is very valuable with the bat and the ball. Tom is a very mature player with an excellent cricket brain. Under 14 Parramatta rep captain.
Matthew Gunton: Matthew was another new player to our team this year. He proved to be an excellent back up keeper and made some very valuable runs when the pressure was on. He always had a smile on his face and was a valuable addition to our team.
Luke McNaught: Luke again proved to be an inspirational captain. His bowling changes and field placements showed his dedication and cricket knowledge. His fast bowling is improving all the time. He is a real asset to the team. Parramatta under 14-rep player.
Alex Mihalyka: Alex is a very good all round cricketer. His century in the last round was a joy to watch. He showed great maturity in the nervous "nineties". He is a genuine quick bowler with an outstanding economy rate. Parramatta Under 14 Rep player.
Evan Platt: Evan has certainly earnt his nickname of "Mr. Line and Length " this season. He has the ability to very consistently land the ball on the "spot" even under great pressure, as evidenced by his figures of 3 for 5 off 5 overs in the grand final.
Hari Raja: Hari continues to go from strength to strength. His spin bowling is a delight to watch. He regularly took the dangerous wickets by beating the batsmen in flight. His defensive batting is first class and he gleefully accepted the openers role late in the season.
Aaron Singh: Aaron performed extremely well this season with unfortunately limited opportunity. He is a very accurate spin bowler. His batting is continuing to improve every season. His resistance in the final was first rate.
Azaan Vhora: Azaan is a rock solid fast bowler who remains calm under pressure. He also played some great innings this year. Azaan always shows great sportsmanship and is a credit to the team.
Andrew Wood: Andrew's wicket keeping improved in leaps and bounds this year. He developed a great rapport with the spinners, getting 5 great stumpings. He is also a very reliable batsman. He played a great steadying influence at one end when Alex got his century. A real team player.
