2004/2005 Report - B1 Grade

A disappointing season by any standard. For a team with so much potential and talent and leading the competition for the first 6 rounds, then to lose the last 8 games in a row just can not be explained.

Batting was a let down, with normally only one batsman performing on the day. Although it could be said that we did not have all our players on the park together for most games, even when we did, we relied on too few to do so much.

Highlights with the bat for the season were Brendan Jansz's 114, Andrew Pittman's 96 and stumped, with Mitch Walters in the same match scoring 93 and being stumped. Also Steve Hobbs blow up with the umpire when he was on 49 no and the umpire calling bad light well before stumps with Steve not having another opportunity to bat.

In total 4 batsmen, Brendan Jansz, Andrew Denlow, Andrew Pittman and Mitch Walters were graded for scores of over 250.

Highlights with the ball, belonged to Nathan Blake who finished up with 43 wickets at 10.79. Tarin Piskulich who took 21 wickets, ably followed him up; both these players will be graded. A special mention to Glen Mulvaney who always managed to pick up some wickets and who finished up with 17 wickets.

Fielding awards went to Scott Thorn for 18 catches, Dean Rebeiro for being deadly in the field, forcing most batsmen to think about whether to chance his arm and Brendan Jansz for his ability to throw down wickets from around the mid wicket area.

For a team to have 6 players graded and still not make the semis indicates the talent in the side, now we need to harness it together to make a formidable side.
