2005/2006 Report - Under 10 White
Our team had a wonderful season and both parents and the players thoroughly enjoyed all the games. We would like to thank all the boys for giving us such an enjoyable time.
The boys were able to record eight wins for the season showing competitiveness and team effort. Encouraging team members when runs were scored and wickets were taken was quite common in all the games we played.
We had a good mix of players with varying experience in playing modified cricket. Blending into a fine team in no time was one reason for our success. It was a great pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic group of boys, who were very keen in improving skills in all aspects of the game. Most of the boys continued in the same team from the previous year and had a good understanding of strengths of each other. It was a pleasure to see the remarkable improvement shown by all the players throughout the season - some boys started concentrating on timing and placing when they batted and some boys showed interest in spin bowling.
The team would like to sincerely thank Warren Ballard, the team manager, who did an outstanding job in scoring and maintaining player statistics. Special thanks to all the parents who helped the team during training sessions and in the games with umpiring etc. Thanks to the mums who helped by wicket keeping when we had training in the nets!
Blaine Cuneo - This keen youngster played modified cricket for the first time and progressively developed his batting and bowling skills during the season. Improved his bowling action well and captured four wickets for his team. Blaine is very competitive and gave 100% for his team in all the games. Well done !
Daniel Leafe - Daniel is a very stylish left hander with excellent batting skills, good timing and placement. Recorded the highest batting average for the season. Daniel improved the accuracy of his medium pace bowling towards the second half of the season and captured six wickets for his team. This youngster showed very good skills in catching and fielding. I am sure Daniel will develop into a good all rounder very soon.
Devin Liyanage - Devin is an outstanding all rounder with well-developed skills in bowling, batting and fielding. Contributes 100% for his team at all times. Recorded the second highest batting average and took nine wickets for the season with good pace bowling. Devin is a very valuable team member and I am sure he will develop into a fine all-rounder.
Kunal Rudra - A good pace bowler, an attacking batsman, an excellent fielder with a strong arm and a fierce competitor, always trying to score runs for his team. Showed a significant improvement in batting and bowling throughout the season. Recorded a very high batting average for the season. Kunal's excellent fielding and the work with the gloves earned him the award for the best fielder.
Nicholas Ballard - This fine all rounder with well-developed skills had an outstanding season with the bat and the ball. Took nine wickets and scored 95 runs (highest aggregate) for the season. Nick is a fierce fast bowler with a well-refined action and a delightful stroke maker capable of scoring runs at a very high strike rate. Excellent fielder and did a good job with the gloves when required. Nick was a real asset to the team and I am sure he will continue to blossom into an exciting all-rounder. Well done !
Sachin Rajapakse - This well disciplined and keen youngster worked hard during the season and showed consistent performance in bowling and batting. Sachin bowls at good pace with accuracy and has a good defensive batting technique. Took eleven wickets in the season, at an average of 4.5 runs/wicket. Well done !!
Sean Svanetti - Good aggressive batsman. Continued developing skills in all areas of the game. Worked hard on bowling and showed improvement in accuracy with the progression of the season. A very good team player and did a good job with the gloves when required.
Utkarsh Sunil - This enthusiastic youngster thoroughly enjoyed the season. Participated in training diligently. Developed into a good medium pace bowler and also developed good batting skills with sound defensive technique. Bowled and batted under tough conditions at times and certainly a better player than the statistics indicate.
Ramal Rajapakse - Ramal enjoyed the season well and showed progress in all areas of the game. Took eight wickets in the season with his medium pace bowling. Improved his batting skills and developed a good defensive batting technique. Need to work on catching, fielding and playing attacking shots to score more runs for the team.
Tarush Sunil - Tarush played modified cricket for the first time and had an outstanding season with his bowling. Tarush was not afraid to try out his skills in spin bowling and captured nine wickets for his team. Need to work on batting and fielding skills. Well done !
Vithushan Lingam - This keen and disciplined youngster developed skills in all areas of the game throughout the season. Very good fielder with a strong arm and capable of very accurate throws. Enjoyed participating in training with a commitment to improve his skills. Gave 100% for his team all the time and I am sure Vithuhsan will develop into a very good all-rounder.
William Costi - William is good aggressive batter, excellent fielder and showed improvement throughout the season. Captured six wickets for the season with his medium pace bowling. William played modified cricket for the first time in this season and showed competitiveness when he was batting, bowling and fielding. Participated in training diligently. Well done!
Yuvin Liyanage - Yuvin showed improvement in all areas of the game throughout the season. Progressively developed his batting skills and bravely defended his wicket facing pace bowling from big boys in opposition teams. A very good team player. Need to continue working on bowling and fielding.
Agnish Nayak - This fine all rounder with well-developed skills in bowling, batting and fielding played four games in this season. Contributes 100% for his team at all times. Very good competitor attempting to score runs or to take a wicket for his team with every ball bowled. Very good fielder with a strong arm. I am sure Agnish will develop into a fine all-rounder.
