Overall a pretty disappointing season by anyone's standards. Asking to play in B2 we were bumped up to B1. The first thing we noticed was that we did not have an opening bowling attack. Sure we had good bowlers who could all take wickets on their day, but as a front line attack we were not there. Another thing that affected us was the lack of consistency of players turning up to the game. As can be seen by our statistical sheet we had 23 players as batsmen and bowlers. Not once did we field the same team. When you have to resort to finding fill-ins because the regulars are unable to turn up then you will always be behind the runs chase. Having said that we did have a fun season. We mixed some of last year's B1s with the B2s and found some extra players. The mood was always jovial and everyone took the Mickey out of each other rather than the opposition. A highlight was always listening to the exploits of the previous night, bragging rights were thrown around like the exploits. When we did get on the park, we sometimes produced our best against all odds. In one game we had 8 fielders on the park defending 224. With some good bowling and excellent fielding we rolled them for 219. Too close but this did prove that we were capable of turning in the big games when needed. We were on a bit of a roll as the next week we rolled Wenty Waratahs for 87 and replied with 189, sending them in to bat again as the PDCA seems to have a rule that you must play 2 days. We managed to roll them again for 61 and claim an outright. The next most memorable match was against Kings Langley. We rolled them for 72, scored 121 and then they piled on 7 dec for 238 in their second dig. This left us with a 190 run chase in around 2 hours. For a change, Mike Gadow decided to show what he can do with the bat and have a bit of fun at the same time. He scored a nice 88 and was supported by Greg Barley and Steve Hobbs. We passed their total at 6.05 and had our second outright. From there things slowly went from bad to worse and with the exception of one game we lost everything else. A disappointing way to finish the season and as always the promise of more things to come next season. Too many players to mention individually, but collectively a good group of players who bonded well when put together in the spirit of the game. A very special thank you to the remainder of the 23 who were not listed on our original registration sheet for filling in and helping us through out the year, your contribution was invaluable. See you next year - bigger and brighter than last year
