2005/2006 Report - B14 Grade
The B14's were a newly formed team, with half of the team progressing up from juniors, and the other half coming back from years away from the game. From the beginning the team was playing well, but was held back by not having a full team in the first five rounds (partly thanks to Peter Scarce not knowing what "heads" means, and getting injured in practice before the season started!!). Winning 5 out of 11 games, and coming close on another 3, the team did very well, and improved greatly throughout the season.
The batting highlights were 50's from Ward Koski (72no and 66no), Reece Jones (70 and 62), Sami Ather (64no and 59), Simon Ruxton (56), Sulaksha Koralege (56), Graham Howard (55no) and David Smith (54). There were some other excellent innings that came at crucial moments, such as David Smith (48), Simon Ruxton (45), Michael Carter (34), Imran Sandhu (37 and 32), and Tim Carter (26).
There were also some brilliant bowling performances throughout the year. Ward Koski (5 for 40, 4 for 41, 3 for 15, 3 for 18, 3 for 22), Sami Ather (4 for 23, 4 for 48, 4 for 54), Peter Scarce (3 for 5), Reece Jones (3 for 22, 3 for 27, 2 for 2), Imran Sandhu (3 for 43), Luke McNaught (3 for 18), Bryce Jones (2 for 6), and Simon Ruxton (2 for 7).
The fielding throughout the year was solid, with some good efforts all around. In particular were some brilliant catches from David Smith, Simon Ruxton, Tim Carter and Graham Howard, as well as some excellent throws that created run outs by Reece Jones, Tim Carter, Bryce Jones, David Smith, Michael Carter, Ward Koski and Andrew Hulme.
