2005/2006 Report - B6 Grade

The 2005-2006 season was another successfully season with team making the semi finals for the third consecutive year in a row. Although we did not make the Grand Final, as was the case for the last two years, the team finished second on the ladder, which enabled us to have a home semi at our beloved North Rocks Park.

The team started slowly at the being on the season however we were able to turn the things around in the second half of the season, winning five consecutive games in a row which is a record for this team. Although it could have been 7 in a row when we lost to Seven Hills in the second last game of the regular season. On this occasion Dean Stapleton tried to belt the ball down the main street in Parramatta and only succeeded in getting an edge to the keeper and we lost by 5 runs. We had some good results, in particular beating the NSW Tamils in the second round by 40 runs in a one day at North Rocks Park after they beat us outright in the first round. We also managed to beat Hills Barbarians outright in the second round after losing first innings to them in the first round.

Unfortunately we were beaten in the semi final by NSW Tamils, who were the better team throughout the match. NSW Tamil had one player in particular who opened the bowling and batted at number three and who was referred to as "Mr Cricket", taking the majority of their wickets. However Mr Cricket was out for a golden duck and 6 by a brilliant combination of McLaren and Billings.

A big thank you to Darren Tipton the captain who led the team with a positive and assertive attitude. Also a big congratulations must go to Cameron Booth, our vice captain, who in his first game as captain against Seven Hills almost who outright. Unfortunately we missed out by 2 wickets but were able to amass over 200 runs. Also thank you to Cameron who keeps all the stats, does the match report and finally for comprising of the DVD which he spent hours editing.
