About Baulko
Web Site designed by |
It was an enjoyable season for the team with the majority of the boys playing their first season of junior cricket. Although we finished out of the top 4, with a little bit of luck and a bit more application it could have been a different story. However it was not to be and the boys were competitive in all their games. It was great to see the improvement in the all round skills of the boys as the season progressed. A sure indicator of the improvement was the reduction in sundries, especially wides and no balls, from the early games to the later games. All boys played with enthusiasm and energy and provided good encouragement and support for each other during all the games. The highlight of the season was the outright win against Rouse Hill Rams after we were dismissed for a low 1st innings total of 53; we bowled really well to dismiss them for 36 in their 1st innings and 7 in their 2nd innings. Batting highlights of the season were:- 40 not out to Joshua in round 2; 50 retired to Michael in round 4; 33 to Mitchell in round 4; 26 to Michael in round 11. Bowling highlights of the season were:- 4 for 5 to Mitchell in round 2; 3 for 7 to Anupam in round 2; 4 for 8 to Sumal in round 4; 3 for 6 to Michael in round 6; 5 for 2 to Mitchell in round 6 (2nd Innings); 5 for 4 to Anupam in round 6 (2nd Innings); 3 for 4 to Matthew in round 11. Thank you to all the parents for their support during the season. Graeme King (Coach) and Venkat Gandi (Manager). Luke Bertus - I now understand why Luke was nicknamed "questions" by a previous coach. Luke holds the record for being run out most in a season, twice without facing a ball! Luke scored 51 runs for the season and took 7 wickets. Mitchell Evans - Opened the bowling with good results, taking out the bowling average, with 16 wickets for the season. Mitchell was our second highest run scorer with 117 runs for the season. Mitchell also took 9 catches during the season. Sumal Fernando - A sound all round cricketer, Sumal batted and bowled consistently all season. Sumal has good technique and this will pay dividends for him in future seasons. Sumal scored 42 runs and took 7 wickets for the season. Siddhant Gandi - Has the best batting technique in the team, with a little more patience he could have made some bigger scores. Siddhant scored 75 runs and took 5 wickets for the season. A promising left hand opening batsman. Ci'aron Fitzgerald - This was Ci'aron's first season in cricket and he was showing great improvement with each game, especially in his bowling, when his season was cut short after breaking both his arms in an accident just before Xmas. Ben Ginman - Ben is a hard hitting right hand batsman who always gave his best. Ben has a very good eye and is an enthusiastic fielder. Ben is also a very capable wicket keeper. Joshua King - An aggressive right hand batsman who scored consistently all season. Joshua hit the most boundaries for the season with a total of 15. Joshua scored 113 runs and took 6 wickets for the season. Matthew Mason - Playing his first season for Baulko, Matthew finished the season as the most improved bowler in the team. A solid right hand batsman, Mathew scored 33 runs and took 9 wickets for the season. Michael McConnell - Michael was our highest run scorer for the season and took out the batting average award, a classy right hand batsman with shots all round the wicket. Michael is a tidy right hand bowler and a good fielder. Michael scored 158 runs and took 13 wickets for the season. Anupam Parashar - Opened the bowling and was one of our most consistent performers all season. Anupam scored 89 runs and took 14 wickets for the season. Nathan Smith - Nathan finished the season as our most improved batsman. Nathan struggled for runs early in the season, but turned his season around after volunteering to open against the run away competition leaders in the 2nd round. Nathan scored 62 runs and took 4 wickets for the season. Sean Svanetti - Sean is a hard hitting right hand batsman who is at his best when attacking the bowling. Sean wicket kept for most of the season and is very competent behind the stumps taking 4 catches for the season.
