2006/2007 Report - Under 14/2
The team came together very well this season with a mix of new players and established club players combining well in their first year together. Our win loss ratio was good in the first half of the season but unfortunately dropped away towards the end of the season. Our bowling was very good all season, our batting started slow but improved as the season progressed, but unfortunately our catching let us down when we needed to take our chances. Many thanks to Jeff Foskett for his excellent assistance with the coaching and the umpiring during the season and to Sami Gounder for being a great team manager. Thanks also to Mark Firth for assisting all season at training and game day and to Andrew O'Donnell for managing the drinks. To the other parents who regularly came along and supported the team, it was well appreciated by myself and the boys.
The Team
Hamish Firth (Captain) - An excellent season from an excellent all round cricketer and in particular a very capable and reliable batsman. A terrific Captain for the entire season.
Michael Gounder (Vice Captain) - Again a very good all round cricketer. Surprised with his quick ball on occasions and when on song is a very elegant batsman. Scored nice 50.
Vrushank Bakshi - A much improved cricketer. Bowling medium pace in swingers he proved hard to handle, and his catching is now first rate. Batting was good but needs to develop patience at the crease and the scores will come.
Daniel Marlow - A good season from Daniel behind the wickets and with the bat. A keen competitor who played some good knocks when we needed him to fire.
Matthew Newson - A much improved season from Matthew bowling wrist spin and opening the batting. Took a bag of 5 wickets and topped the wickets. Scored his first 50.
Shivang Sharma - A much improved cricketer. Took some good catches this season and bowled very well after refining his action to be more line and length focused.
Taseen Rafi - A tremendous season with both bat and ball. Scored the most runs in the team and put his back into his bowling on every occasion. Excellent season.
Robert Tatko - A great competitor and found consistency with the bat as the season unfolded. Scored a tremendous 60 and bowled well when called on as our finger spinner.
Thomas Hough - Injury plagued season but showed glimpses of brilliance with the ball. Took 4 for in one spell and should develop into a hard hitting all rounder next year.
Pasindu Fernando - A hard hitting batsman who loves the contest but needs to improve his defense. Improved a lot as the season progressed with the bat and in the field.
Jack O'Donnell - Very quick bowler and hard hitting batsman with enormous potential but needs to work on bowling rhythm. Batting technique improved greatly this season.
Jason Foskett - Tremendous opening bowler and bowled with great pace. Unlucky not to get many more wickets. Batting improved during year and his fielding was outstanding.
Sattam Rahman - Another much improved cricketer. Batting and fielding both progressed well this season and bowling is starting to come together also.
