This season we had eleven senior sides - down a couple from last season. Of these sides, seven (B2, B4, B5, B6, B11, B12 and B14's) made the semi finals, and three (B4, B6 and B11's) made the final. One of these teams, the B4's won the final - breaking a run of two seasons without a Senior Premiership. The captain's achievement award went to Pat Mamo - who did a fine job leading the B4's to a premiership win. This season saw the introduction of the new "twelve person a team" rule. This made it easier for sides to field full teams throughout the season, however I am still concerned about the number of fill in players required for some sides. I would like to encourage all teams to try to recruit their own team reserves from within their groups of friends or work colleagues - it is often much easier to players to play for a team if they know people in the team. The Seniors Colt match this season ended in an amazing tie - with the Colts chasing an improbable 173 off 20 overs they did superbly to give themselves a chance, needing 10 runs to win off the last over. The equation got down to needing three to win off the last ball, but they could only manage two. An amazing end to a fabulous game. There is obviously a lot of talent in the colts ranks that we should see rising to the higher grades over the next few seasons. I would to like to thank Russell Houlahan for arranging fill-ins from the under 15's for various grades throughout the season. Junior players filling in for Senior teams are greatly appreciated and benefit from getting experience playing against older opponents. I would also like to thank our club fill in secretaries - Peter McLoughlin and Rick Thomas. Both of these guys took on responsibilities on top of their already designated roles to ensure the club ran smoothly despite not having an elected secretary. Hopefully somebody will step forward next season, so that these efforts don't need to be repeated. I look forward to seeing everyone at pre-season practice!
