Doug first played with the club in 1933/34 and over his 28 seasons as a player he took 900 wickets and scored 8,000 runs. He took 81 wickets including two hat tricks in one season with the B1 team. He played in premiership teams in A Grade, A Reserve and B1. Doug was club secretary for eighteen years, from 1942 to 1960. He was also a delegate to the P.D.C.A. and served on P.D.C.A. executive for 8 years, and he played a major role in the recommencement of Saturday morning junior cricket in the early 1950's.
