Jonathan Barnitt: Jonathon is a solid right hand batsman with a good defence and a good eye. Johnno was quick to always volunteer to open and he always provided a good start. His batting really blossomed at the end of the season with an excellent knock of 32 in the semi final against Norwest. Johnno kept wickets on a number of occasions and was very solid behind the stumps. He is a good bowler who always bowls stump to stump. He put in some absolutely stunning spells through the year. His 3/10 (all bowled) against Guildford and his 3/1 (two bowled and an LBW) in the semi against Norwest were standouts. George Joseph: Mark this spot in your annual report and you may be looking back through the career of George in the future. George is an excellent all round cricketer. As a batsman he accumulated runs well and featured in some vital partnerships. Against Norwest in the semi-final the team looked in a lot of trouble at 9/92 before George (12 not out) and Gaj put on a magnificent 28 for the last wicket. George finished the season with a respectable average of just over 12 and you feel as he gets bigger and stronger he will evolve into a fine batsman. George took on the majority of the wicket keeping for the team and he performed beautifully- his anticipation is excellent and he is always in the right place to take the balls-even against some pretty wayward bowling at times. If George sticks with his wicket keeping he should develop into a great wicket-keeping batsman -the problem is he is also a great bowler picking up 13 wickets at a great 6.38. The amazing part of George's performance is, he is only 8! Pavan Kasthuriarachchi: Another youngster at only 9 Pavan had a fine season with the ball. He bowled fast all year and was unlucky not to have taken more wickets than he did. His 3/22 in the grand final put us in a position to win the match that we unfortunately just couldn't take advantage of. His fine effort in the grand final earned him the Baulko junior player of the round. He looked solid in the nets all year and his batting came on well at the end of the season. A young cricketer with heaps of potential. Nick McConnell: Nick started the season with a new bat and promptly hit 50 not out in his first innings for the season. Although we didn't know it at the time - Nick's innings helped inflict the only loss of the season for Wenty Leagues. Nick is a beautiful driver of the ball and he hit some glorious on and off drives through the season. Nick was the only player to reach 50 twice this season and he formed the backbone of the teams batting. He was desperately unlucky through the season with some close run outs and a dubious hit wicket and he still managed to accumulate an impressive 254 runs at 28.22. His 33 in the grand final was an outstanding effort against some excellent bowling and with a very slow outfield. Nick also bowled well picking up 11 wickets including 2/2 against Guildford. Nick's fielding was outstanding taking 8 catches with a few screamers and he was a deserving winner of the fielding award. Geoffrey McIntyre: You can always rely on Geoff to give 100%. A great team player who made some great contributions when they really counted. He had a golden streak in the middle of the season when some of the regular contributors had a lean patch. In round 5 he put together an invaluable 20 to help us to a close win and he followed this up with a match winning 25 not out the following week. Geoffrey bowls fast and furious and should develop into a good bowler. A good all round effort for the year. Blake Newman: Blake is a superb batsman with a perfect blend of technique and power. His defence is technically perfect but when the ball is there to be hit he smacks it. He likes to dominate the bowling and he uses his feet particularly well to the slower bowlers and he can quickly upset their rhythm and confidence. He accumulated 273 runs at an impressive average of 34.1 and was awarded the batting award. Blake also has beautiful hands and has taken some amazing catches this year. His reflex catches in close were beauties. He also had a great year with the ball continually worrying the batsman, delivery 60 overs for 24 maidens for 10 wickets at 7.00. Blake played representative cricket for PDCA this year and this included a bludgeoning innings of 70. His 50 off just 60 balls against Guildford in round 11 earned him the Baulko Junior Payer of the round honours. Blake has great cricket skills and a great cricket mind, he always plays for the team and he has huge potential. Joel Pienmunne: Joel in his first year of cricket took to it like a duck to water. He is developing into a fantastic leg spin bowler with huge potential and many wickets within his sights! His bowling abilities were recognised when Joel played representative cricket for PDCA this year. To add to his skill he is a reliable batter with a fine array of shots, that will be valuable throughout his career. With a high score of 50* and a best bowling of 5 for 21, just shows what an important member of our side Joel has been! Matthew Sibley: Matty is a crafty left arm bowler with the uncanny ability to pick up wickets. He has a great bowling action that will help him develop in the years to come. Also a left hand bat with a good technique, with better things to come I'm sure. Matt had a high score of 7 and best bowling of 3 for 1. Gaj Sivapalan: Gaj had a great season with that smiling face always making it easy to coach. His batting is improving all the time and I feel since he started using a bat a little bit smaller he began to hit the ball more cleanly. His bowling is always close to the mark with little bits of improvement being shown all the time. Gaj is always eager to listen and learn and is a pleasure to have in the side. I should not forget his nickname of eagle-eye as he has the ability to hit the stumps on a regular basis! Gaj had a high score of 15 and best bowling of 3 for 11. Shanan Surendra: Shanan had a good season with his natural ability evident on many occasions. A strong right hand bat, had a high score of 30* including several powerful hits and a tricky bowling style that puzzled some batsmen with best figures of 1 for 6. Cody Thomas:Cody always tried his very best, he is a right hand bat who has a good technique improving throughout the season. When the opening batting spot was discussed Cody would always put his hand up to do the job, and he did the job required - everytime! Cody is a good bowler generally bowling a bit of inswing which is very handy. He had a high score of 17(in the grand final) & best bowling of 2 for 10. Mitchell Webb: Mitch is a right hand bat and left arm bowler & superb fielder. With his batting, he has a great technique and a good eye, with a top score of 52* in a game needing him to get runs shows he has true potential. He plays all the shots and doesn't mind going after the bowling. He finished with 210 runs at 19.1.As far as Mitch's bowling is concerned he has a flawless left arm action delivering the ball down pretty quickly and right on a good length, ending up with him getting the bowling award for the side with 17 wickets at a cost of 77runs off 64 overs including 26 maidens. He also took 10 catches, some which were blinders and some great ground fielding causing many run outs. Mitch's abilities have been duly recognised and rewarded with representative cricket for PDCA this year and recently being picked for Sydney West PSSA cricket team. Congratulations Mitch
