With the season behind us we can only reflect on what might have been. Certainly the addition of Reece, Andrew and the return of Max enabled us to field a well balanced and competitive team. Whilst generally having a full side there were times when school, family commitments and injuries meant that we played short. We started the first round well with a great win against Kings Langley and followed that up with a narrow loss in the one-dayer against the eventual competition winners Norwest. Unfortunately throughout the remaining rounds we could never synchronize a solid batting effort with a solid bowling effort. Playing at Charlie Mac didn't help our cause as we were unable to win a toss at home and there were occasions when it was definitely an advantage to bowl first on an under prepared or damp wicket. Adding to our frustration were the two washouts we experienced when holding the upper hand and dare I say the drinks break always cost us dearly. Despite these setbacks we produced some entertaining cricket and had a few laughs along the way. Training was generally well attended even though the nets at Crestwood aren't exactly suited for this age group. Remember that to achieve success in sport and life you need 100% commitment and you must be prepared to work. Thanks to those guys that turned up every week. Special thanks to Dave Littlejohns for his contributions and to Steve Burns for taking over the scoring responsibilities, it was most appreciated. Thank you to Karyn for running the canteen and to those parents who cheered the team on and assisted with transportation. Last but by no means least thank you to a great bunch of guys for the friendships, laughs and frustrations over a tough season of cricket. I have learned many valuable lessons and I thank you for the experience. Hopefully many of you will continue to play for years to come, especially now that you can all sleep in on a Saturday morning.
