Our season started of strong and showed signs of promise but in the end failed to live up to expectations. We were leading the competition after 5 rounds and looked set to be there in the grand final. However, a combination of uni exams and holidays meant that we had a depleted team for most of the middle part of the season and we never really recovered. However, in a season that ended in a downward spiral, we still managed to enjoy ourselves and build on the friendships we started last year. The games were always played in good spirit and in good sportsmanship which is the way it should be played. There should be some honourable mentions made to those players who shined throughout the season: Matthew Bracken - Bowling Award. It would seem relinquishing the captaincy at the end of last season was a great move for Matty, allowing him to refocus on his bowling. After some stella performances at first change at the beginning of the season, he made the opening position his own for the remainder of the season. Bowling with pace and movement, Matty picked up bundle of wickets, and deserved many more. Martin Daniel - Batting Award. As opener, Marty struck fear in any bowling attack with his strong hitting and graceful placement. No batter in our team stuck to his average more than Marty; and you could almost guarantee a 20 out of him whenever he stepped out to bat. Also, no batter in our team was unluckier, as Marty had the knack of getting out lbw when the ball was swinging down past leg stump at least once a month, it was a gift. With a few beautiful 50s under his belt this season, Marty could have made many more with a little bit of luck and some friendlier umpiring. Andrew Mahony - Fielding Award. Throughout the season Andrew was the definition of team player. Always chirpy and energetic in the field, Andrew was the person you could count on to bring the team back from the despair of impending defeat. Taking some great catches and making some athletic diving saves, Andrew was a standout in the field.
