About Baulko
Web Site designed by |
We had another enjoyable season starting off with the inclusion of some new faces. Thanks to Taylor, Tom, Tasseen, James, & Ruben all of whom have decided to call Baulko home! We were always near the top of the table ending in reaching the semi's but alas could go no further. I feel we have the squad to succeed with some naturally gifted cricketers scattered throughout suggesting a premiership is just around the corner. The Team Jonathan Barnitt - Johno had a great year improving all aspects of his game to develop into a genuine all rounder. Always the team payer, Johno put his hand up to open when asked and he consistently did the job for us. Normally he played the classic openers role- patiently wearing down the bowling which the middle order was able to capitalize on- however he broke the mould against Norwest in round 6 with a dashing quick fire 42 which included 7 fours with shots played all-round the ground. His bowling this year was superb with his quick wicket to wicket bowling returning 8 wickets at the impressive average of 7.75. His fielding and catching was excellent this year and he took a couple of blinders at Mid Wicket against Kings Langley. James Dallaway - A very good cricketer all round, James was a great addition to our team this year. James is the Mr. Cricket of the side with a love of the game, matched with a mental toughness and application. A solid bat with a good defense and great technique scoring 142 runs at 17.75. He shared an opening partnership of 111 with Joel in round 5 against Kings Langley to set us up for a memorial win. His catching is very good and he excels at ground fielding, his returns hit or were near the stumps all year and he pulled off a great direct hit run out against Pendle Hill. He bowls with a quick whippy action and continuously worried the batters; he was unlucky not to pick up more wickets. His talents were duly recognized and rewarded by his selection in the PDCA u/12 side. A cricketer with heaps of potential. Tom Lockhart - Another new addition to the team, Tom had a great year. He started the season with a bang picking up 3 for 4. Whenever he was thrown the ball he did the job. Tom was our second highest wicket taker taking 9 wickets at 8.78. A great effort. Tom had a great first half of the season with the bat- consistently scoring runs. He ended the season like he started it- with a bang. In the semi-final he hit the teams only six for the year off his first ball and his quick fire 11 not out gave us a chance. The look on his face was fantastic! Nick McConnel - Nick carried on from where he left off from last year and continued to wield the willow. His 47 not out against Norwest in round 1 was a magnificent knock. He was very consistent, always contributing with the bat compiling 161 runs 20.13. He wicket kept when needed and pulled off a nice stumping against Pendle Hill. The real revelation was his change from medium pace to leg spin mid way through the season. As soon as he changed he consistently put it on the spot and worried the batsmen. His 3 for13 against Pendle Hill was a highlight. His six wickets at 14.67 was a good bowling effort however he should bag a heap of wickets next season with his leggies Geoffrey McIntyre - A great team player who always gives his best. Geoffrey's bowling this year was a revelation. He bowled quick and got plenty of movement. He took some big wickets this year and capturing Wenty's premier batsman for LBW with late swinging ball for a golden duck was a highlight. His technique with the bat is excellent and he always seems to step up for the big occasions. His 12 not out against Greystanes in round 9 got us out of Jail to fall over the line and his 12 not out against Wenty in the semi final got us to a competitive total. A great year for Geoffrey and a very worthy winner of the encouragement award. Blake Newman - Blake captained the team this year and led from the front. He amassed an impressive 216 runs at 30.86 including two fifties. He dominated the bowling all year, watchful when needed and dominating often. For his fourth consecutive year Blake has picked up the batting award. Blake was also the leading catch taker with 12 catches, some superb. He has great reflexes and gobbled up anything that came his way in slips. His accurate bowling worried batsman all year and he often tied up an end and frustrated the batsmen. Blake provided great on field leadership and he has a cricket brain way beyond his years. Blake's skills were recognized with being selected to captain the PDCA Creak shield team. His efforts there were outstanding and he was awarded player of the series after amassing an amazing 265 runs at 66.25 including a sublime 75 not out and also dominating with the ball with a 5/25 his best figures. Blake also represented Sydney West in the Annual Primary Schools Cricket carnival. Another fantastic year for Blake. Mitchell Webb - Mitch is a consistent rh bat who scored his highest score of 80no which was a delight to watch against the premiers. His reflexes saw him take some great slip catches and his ability in the outfield was just as impressive. His left arm bowling is always going to give the opposition worries and I feel better things are to come! Joel Pienmunne - Joel is our & Parramatta's sensational leg spin bowler with loads of potential. He can land the ball on the spot & only doesn't when he thinks he has to try something different. There was a game this year when I told Joel if he lands the ball on that spot & move Mitch in to short midwicket you'll get a catch. Guess what he did & yes it was caught, great control!! He also is a solid bat & when asked to open he took it with both hands where on the two occasions he opened he got 50's. A great team player who has a good cricket brain. Matthew Sibley - Matty is our cunning left hand opening bowler. More often than not he got that early breakthrough with consistent bowling. He is a sound fielder resulting in many catches. A left hand bat who didn't have any luck at all being run out on several occasions through no fault of his own. He did manage his highest score for us with a gutsy 18 (run out) when we needed it against Greystanes when we were in deep trouble. Tasseen Rahman - Tasseen gave it all every game, including a stylish 42 in a opening partnership of well over a hundred. A very accurate bowler who has a nice outswinger going and when he gets it right is quite pacey. A solid fielder who never let us down. He certainly was a great asset for our side! Taylor Stewart - Tail's was our charismatic keeper/batsmen and a great team man with always a smile on his face. When asked to do a job he would try as hard as he could to do it despite what that meant for him. A pleasure to have in the team Ruben Robertson - Ruben enjoyed his first year of cricket and did himself proud. He has a great bowling action that gives him lots of bounce and prodigious in swing which on many caught the batsmen out! His energy was outstanding which resulted in some fantastic catches & run outs. With his batting, the look on his face when he scored his first run then his first boundary was priceless.
