Ray Kentwell
(Awarded Life Membership 1988)

Ray had never played cricket before he was talked into "having a go" by Dave Whitehurst at a soccer meeting in 1962/63. Ray played for 25 consecutive seasons with Baulkham Hills. He was known in some circles as our Dr Grace (courtesy of Doug Sims).

A really great club man who was always there when required, Ray captained C Grade on many occasions, nurturing our younger players through into senior ranks.

Ray records one of the highlights of his career was playing in the B6 Premiership team which included his son Neville.

Ray was awarded the Captain's Achievement Award in 1976/77, when he was skipper of the B4 team. He was also very proud of his 7 wickets for 14 runs in an innings during the 1974/75 season.

Always one of the first to volunteer to assist on working bees and arranged to supply heavy machinery when grounds had to be cleared and levelled. Fund raising ventures where similarly well supported by Ray and his wife Beth.

Life Membership was a just reward when Ray hung up his boots in 1988.
