Doug joined the club in the 1969/70 season when he and his wife, Patricia, purchased a house at Castle Hill.

- been active in coaching and managing junior teams;
- assisted with the Coaching Clinic;
- won the Captains Achievement Award in 1977/78 and 1982/83;

- been awarded Clubman of the Year in 1982/83;

Some of the positions he has held include grading senior and junior teams for many years and publicity officer for 4 years.

Doug, as a player, captain and club member won the respect and friendship of all local cricketers and officials. He was involved with selling of debentures to raise funds to start the Sporting Club.
