Peter with Kerry O'Keefe at the 90th Anniversary Dinner Peter first became involved with Baulkham Hills Cricket Club when his son Greg began playing in 1997/1998 (in Under 11's), starting out as manager of the team. He coached or managed Greg's junior team for 6 years, right through till Under 16. Peter joined the Management Committee in 2000/2001 as Vice President. He held this role for 4 seasons till 2003/2004. In 2004/2005 Peter became President, and is currently serving his sixth season in that position. Peter has been on the social committee, either officially or ex-officio, from 2002/2003 till the present - and is always one of the first at any club event. He plays a major role in the organization and running of our two biggest events - trivia night, presentation weekend, including being the club's resident MC on the night, as he has done since he joined the management committee. Peter has also served for several years with the PDCA, where he is currently chairman of the PDCA Competition Committee, and is also serving on the PDCA Grading Committee. Peter has also been an active member of the PDCUA. When the club Secretary resigned mid way through the 2005/2006 season, Peter took on the major part of our secretarial role for the rest of that season and the 2006/2007 season, before a replacement could be found. During this time, Peter became the face of Baulko, and he is still the first point of contact for many people and organizations who deal with the club. Peter has held many roles in his time on the committee. He is currently the club's Publicity Officer, and also our delegate to Hills Shire Sport, both roles he has held for the past several seasons. He was also delegate to the Baulkham Hills Sports Club Sports Committee from 2000/2001 till 2007/2008. Peter has been the driving force behind many of the improvements to facilities in the last few years. He coordinated the funding and construction of the new net facility at Charles McLaughlin Oval. He also coordinated the funding and construction of new pitches at Masonic & Yattenden in 2008. Peter is always willing to meet and lobby council to improve cricket facilities for our club. Peter will do whatever is needed. He coached an U10 team for several weeks in 2008 before a parent stepped forward to take over. And he is always out with the kids on Friday nights at the MILO in2CRICKET sessions. Peter has had 15 innings, with 10 not outs, scoring 27 runs at 5.40. He has also taken 9 catches. He has a bowling average of 3.00, having taken 1 for 3 off one over. |
