Barry Walker
(Awarded Life Membership 1985)

The name Barry Walker immediately brings to mind the excellent performances of an "A" Grade cricketer. Barry is the only "A" Grade Baulkham Hills player to have scored 200 runs in an innings. Quite obviously a life member has to do more than be a good cricketer and Barry has been a very hard worker and sound administrator with Baulko.

Barry moved into the shire in 1961 and immediately started with our "A" Grade team. Barry's three sons played with the club and he played with them in the B9 and C Grade teams before he retired.

"Retired" is not quite correct as Barry now plays with the Parramatta Golden Oldies, as do several other Baulko cricketers.

Barry is quite justifiably proud of the fact that 3 generations of Walkers have played with the club. Len, Barry's father, played with the Baulkham Hills and has a Parramatta District Cricket Association record of capturing 10 wickets in an innings in 1928/29.

Some of the milestones in Barry's career with the club are:

- started and conducted Coaching Clinic;
- President of the Cricket Division;
- inaugural President of the Soccer Division;
- founding director of the Sporting Club Ltd;
- Sportsman of the Year 1976/77 and 1979/80;
- selector and captain of various teams.

Barry's wife, Marilyn has supported the club in various activities over the years and has been a tower of strength.

In conclusion, Barry is a true sportsman and respects both team mates and opponents on and off the field.
